This road reflector will produce strong reflections at night, reminding drivers to pay attention to the driving route and guiding drivers to drive safely at night. At the same time, Heilongjiang Road will also add other traffic safety facilities in the near future.
On the evening of the 20th, some construction workers were installing reflective cat eye road stud reflectors on the road. Each glass cat eye road stud has a diameter of 115 mm. Under the illumination of the lights of passing vehicles, it emits dazzling light. Drivers drive safely and orderly under the guidance of the flashing road signs formed by multiple "cat's eyes". Starting on the 20th, they officially carried out safety sign construction along Heilongjiang Road, and have been installed reflective cat eye road stud reflectors more than 100 meters of road sections.
Heilongjiang Road has added traffic safety facilities and installed "360-degree cat eye road studs on highways", mainly installing road reflectors on the road ramps, lane dividers and pedestrian crossings. Starting from the intersection of Heilongjiang Road and Nanjing Road, all the way to the Liuting Interchange on Heilongjiang Road, more than 20,000 cat's eye road stud have been installed. These road reflectors reflect vehicle lights at night, allowing drivers to clearly see the flashing spots a hundred meters away. Many flashing spots form a light band to guide vehicles away from driving in the wrong lane, and can warn and ensure citizens' safe driving at night.
"In the past, especially at night, Heilongjiang Road often had traffic accidents due to dim lighting, small warning range, and limited warning angles in some sections of the road, which made driving at night particularly worrying." A person from the city's traffic police department said that due to the poor lighting in some sections of Heilongjiang Road, it caused safety hazards to night driving. Traffic accidents at night accounted for 70% of the total number of accidents, many of which were caused by poor vision.
Some of the road reflectors installed on other sections of the road before were triangular reflective road studs; while the 360-degree cat's eye reflective road stud installed on Heilongjiang Road are truly 360-degree road reflectors, which are roughly the same type as those installed on Binhai Avenue.
The cat's eye road studs on the road are glass balls that emit shining light under the illumination of lights, clearly showing the outlines of each lane. This kind of ball is resistant to strong pressure and is enough to withstand the weight of a 50-ton vehicle; it can fully focus and reflect, and is not affected by the bends on the road, which can enhance the driver's sight distance when driving at night and ensure the driver's safety at night. "The reflective cat eye road stud reflectors can remind drivers at any time not to drive in the wrong lane, especially on dimly lit roads. The reflective road stud sends a signal to drivers to drive safely." said taxi driver Master Zhang.
"The installation of 360-degree cat's eye road stud on Heilongjiang Road makes the road signs reflective at night very strongly, allowing drivers to see the road conditions ahead clearly and in a timely manner from a relatively long distance, so as to drive safely and effectively avoid or reduce the occurrence of traffic accidents." Currently, the installation of 360-degree reflective road stud is only part of the improvement of traffic signs on Heilongjiang Road. In the next step, more traffic signs will be installed along the way, including solar signal signs at crosswalks, turns and lane dividers, to ensure the safety of vehicles and pedestrians. It is reported that Heilongjiang Road will also install anti-glare panels and other traffic safety signs to guide people to drive safely at night.
